Andrology & Men’s Health
While urology is the branch of science that deals with all the diseases of the male and female urinary tract, andrology is a subspecialty that only deals with the problems of the male reproductive system. It is the counterpart of gynecology, which focuses solely on the female reproductive system. Our team exploits the latest of these developments to treat various male reproductive problems at our men infertility clinic in Dubai.
Male Infertility Conditions Treated Under Andrology
Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
Erectile dysfunction is a fairly common problem, especially among older men. However, it can be caused due to various reasons that prevent them from maintaining an erection. Andrologists specialize in diagnosing these conditions and offering specific treatment solutions.
Ejaculation Problems
Ejaculation is the process where the semen is ejected out of the penis during an orgasm. However, this process can be hampered by different other health and lifestyle factors, leading to the following conditions:
- Premature Ejaculation: when the semen is ejected sooner or before the orgasm.
- Retrograde Ejaculation: when the semen travels backward into the bladder instead of passing through the urethra tube.
- Anejaculation: when the semen does not eject out despite orgasm
Male Hypogonadism
It is the deficiency of male testosterone hormone. Testosterone is crucial for developing masculine traits and responsible for various developmental factors such as fertility, muscle mass, bone strength, fat metabolism, sex drive, and even psychological processes. Its deficiency can directly lead to decreased sex drive, less muscle mass, erectile dysfunction, and infertility.
Prostate Disorders
The prostate is a pair of glands situated around the urethra and plays a crucial role in producing the semen, which carries the sperms. But issues like enlargement, prostatitis, or prostate cancer can hamper this process, causing male infertility.
Dr. Partha Das and his team of expert andrologists evaluate these men with specific infertility problems and offer comprehensive treatment options to maximize the chances of pregnancy. Andrologists also treat isolated cases of specific male problems unrelated to infertility at our clinic in Dubai.
Common Treatments Offered For Andrological Disorders:
Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA)
TESA is a sperm retrieval procedure performed in men with azoospermia which means no sperms seen in a semen sample. Here, the doctor uses a thin syringe to aspirate the sperms from the testicular tubules and is either frozen for future use or inseminated inside the eggs for fertilization.
Micro Testicular Sperm Extraction (mTESE)
Micro TESE procedure is mostly recommended for men with non-obstructive azoospermia. The procedure involves making a small (2-3 cm) incision in the midline of the scrotum and extract testicular seminiferous tubules (tubes that produce sperms) and these tubules are teased out by the embryologists under a high-magnification microscope to check for sperms. If sperms are obtained then it is either frozen for future use or inseminated inside the eggs for fertilization.
Testicular Biopsy
Testicular biopsy can be performed as a percutaneous biopsy, which is using a thin needle and syringe, or as an open biopsy, which is by making small incisions in the scrotum skin and a testicle. It helps diagnose male infertility factors, test existing lumps in the testes for analysis, and also extract sperm for IVF treatment.
Varicocelectomy
Varicocele is dilated and engorged veins in the testis. Varicocele could be one of the reasons for abnormal sperm parameters causing infertility. Varicocelectomy is a surgical procedure for resetting the blood flow through the testicles by opening or removing those veins.
